Tax season over and election season is upon us

Here some ways you could simplify the tax code which everyone claims to want to do but now one really does.

1. have income be income, not passive income, not investment income, not materially participating real estate professionals, not qualifying and unqualifying dividens, not short term capital gain, not long term capital gain, not capital gain on collectables, not ordianry, not self employment (I know this one deals with other taxes but nevermind that), Just make income income. I know they wont do this and i am not sure I would even go so far as to say there is only one kind of income. I would keep Capital gain treated different, but all the others are just silly.

For example lets say you have a rental property and it loses 1000k. It is a 1000k passive loss which is not deductibel. Unless you have other passive income to off set or you ended the rental activity, or you make under a certain amount that it is deductible, but it isn't ordinary, it is still passive, meaning you don't pay se tax on it.

Unless your business is rentals, than it is. See what i mean and this is just one example. People wonder about our tax code. It is stupid.

2. Don't make Mortgage interest deductible. Lets say me and you both make 250k a year like joe the plumber (i know), but I buy a 1 million dollar home and you buy a 300k home (and we both finace them at 8%). Does it make a lick of sense that you pay around 16k more in tax than i do?

That is really all i can think of right now.

Joe the plumber story is all the rage these days because obama told someone that was lying to him, that he wanted to spread the wealth, which has conservative in an uproar. It seems to me that Obama should have a commercial talking about how under the Bush doctrine for the first time since the end of the second world war. The top 1% increased their income while the bottom 40% of wage earners earned less. Bush's policies have done exactly not spread the wealth, and have force millions below the poverty line. That has to stop.

America can not be America without a middle class. Bush's policies have take our greatest asset as a country and diminshed our wealth. while Buffet and Gates have gotten richer, not just in actual numbers, but in percentages.

I don't even know if half of that is true but it makes a great commercial, and McCain's robo calls are misleading, Obamas should be too.

I mean McCain calls and says, Obama worked with a domestic terrorist.

Obama should call and say, McCain is an adulter who wants to admit drug addicts that steal medicine for the poor into the white house.

Oh wait, that right everything about that last sentence is true.

:-)

So I got to thinking, why is my nasal pudding tainted with red. It had been such a constant, yucky yellowish color for so long.

Than I got to thinking, every it going to think I was sitting here at my desk, with my fingers in position to give my self a brain massage.

Well, I went over to flonase site and I found this.

Other adverse events that occurred in ≤3% but ≥1% of patients and that were more common with fluticasone propionate (with uncertain relationship to treatment) included: blood in nasal mucus, runny nose, abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, flu-like symptoms, aches and pains, dizziness, bronchitis.

I am cleared. It is the flonase.

This information is from healthatoz.com

Causes and symptoms

Nosebleeds may result from a number of different causes:

local infections (colds, sinus infections)

systemic infections (scarlet fever, typhoid fever, malaria)

drying of the membranes lining the nose, often during heating season in colder climates

medications, most commonly, overuse of nasal decongestant sprays

trauma (from foreign objects in the nose; scratching or picking with the fingers; or blunt trauma to the face)

tumors in the nasopharynx or paranasal sinuses

cocaine abuse

bleeding disorders (leukemia, liver disease, hemophilia and other hereditary clotting disorders)

As i sit here at my desk holding tissue to my nose, thinking to myself, what the hell were you doing? A secondary thought crosses my mind. Do you think anyone will think it was anything than digital spelunking that causes this injury?

Have you seen this ad, I think it is call blind ambition. Anyway since I've made it a point to think too much about other ads, Here is me overthinking a political ad.

The first 15 seconds are about obama's blind amitition, the last 15 seconds are about liberal congressional leaders fighting for subprime loans. The second half doesn't mention Obama, and the first 1/2 mentions his blind ambition.

All I get from this is Obama has ambition. Which I think would be a good thing, and liberal congressional leaders in congress have some of the blame for the economic crisis, but it doesn't say Obama had bad judgement.

Really what I take from this ad, is that McCain can't make a coherent 30 second ad making a claim against Obama.

McCain

As with every race that seems to be slipping away, the GOP attacks are getting seemingly more desperate. I am not saying anything bad about this tactic. When your message is lost, which is seems to be for McCain, you just throw a bunch of mud against the wall, and hope something grabs hold.

Obama, would likely do the same thing if the roles were reversed. I would be shocked if he didn't.

I do not agree with the GOP platform, or their politicians, but yesterday when McCain stopped a woman that was calling Obama an Arab, I was proud of him. It would have been enough for him to just not reply and take the mike. It isn't his responsibility to shoot down the Whacko elements of his party. But he defended Obama against a racist attack. I guess racist, as Arab isnt' a race, or a religion, I am not sure what kind of attack it was, other than false and hate filled.

Dudes dad was from Kenya. Which may surprise this lady, isn't an Arab country.

Secondly, and more importantly, who gives a rats ass if he was an Arab or a Muslim. or a muslim arab, or as the case would be, a Arab christian. As the term Arab is used to apply to an entire ethnic, linquistic group of people. Arabs are, Christian, Muslim, Jews, Hindi, and what everelse you can be. Mostly Arabs are just people.

I am guessing that this lady thinks that Iran is an Arab country, and that global warming is a crock, evolution is a crock, the world is flat, and the earth is the center of the universe.

Anyway, I am getting off point, I was heartened to see McCain call Obama a decent person. In a room where it would have been easy to whip the crowd into a hate filled frenzy, he choose not to.

Kudos to him for that, but i am still not voting for him, based on policies and ideas, not on that obama is a black arab muslim christian or that mccain is a white guy.

Anyone voting for any reason other than the issues should get slapped up side the head.

stuff I wonder about today

First, over at the target they have sardines, which are nasty, and kipper snacks which are less than great, but better than good.

I like mustard, and they have sardines in mustard, but they don't have kipper snacks in mustard. Why not? If anyone knows anyone at a fish product making plant, i would appreciate if you would throw a bottle of french's mustard in with the herring.

Does anyone feel better about the bailout now that they're calling it a rescue? I know I do.

My retirement is down nearly 40% this year. I am far from retiring, so it doesn't concern me too much, but what about dude that was set to retire? what if his was down 40%. i mean I know that dude should have had alot higher portion of his retirement in bond accounts, but still.

Are bond funds and bonds down as well?

i just went to my 401k site, and clicked on the rate of return button, and it came back as an error, that can't be a good thing.

Back to politics becuase I live in a battleground state, i am flodded with calls, commericials and door knockers. IT seems that this race is getting ugly.

The GOP has brought up Ayers, and the Dems don't like it. The Dems have brought up the Keating 5 and the GOP doesn't like it. Cindy McCain said, Obama is running the dirtiest campaign ever. That may be true, or it may not be true, who is to say, but it seems to me that if it is true, he is running the dirtiest race ever by a hair. With McCain right behind him.

Palin is running around saying that Obama hangs out with terrorists, but thinks that her husband's belonging to a party that wants alaskan independence should be overlooked. urgh.

If Cindy McCain says anything else, I think that it should be fair game that despite her millions of dollars she stole medicine from needy people becuase she is a spoiled rich snotty junkie.

that is what i think today,

I am serious about the mustard, that would treat me right.

burn after reading

This is going to be a sorta 2fer entry.

I was watching the news the other day and they said something like mccain/palin are fighting for their political lives.

Seriously, that is a little dramatic.

There are 50 govenors in the US. 300 million people but only 50 govs. If McCain Palin lose, she goes back to being a wildly popular govenor in Alaska.

Similairly there are 100 senators in the US. If when either McCain or Obama and Joe lose he or they go back to a pretty sweet gig in the senate.

They're not fighting for their political lives. They're fighting to win this election. If they were fighting for the political lives, the loser would be out of politics, not going back to a pretty cushy job.

I wish i was fighting for my Accounting life, and knew if i failled i would have a sweet gig to fall back on.

So last night we went to "Burn After Reading"

I am failry sure forcing the prisoners at Gitmo to watch this would be a serious violation of the geneva convention protocols, and could result in econmics sanctions against the US.

If you can't get through my misspelling and misunderstand my meaning, this movie sucked. not a little sucky, not ishtar sucky. No how when you hear your friend tell you on the phone the had their femur snapped by a grizzly bear, and all you can say is that sucks. that is how this movie sucks.

only making bears watch it is surely going to cause the people at peta, to get upset.

So they passed a law that say you must tell wehre my food comes from.
but only if it is raw food?

Seriously, raw food, do i really care to much where my tomato came from, i mean the worst they could do to it is down it in ecoli, or however you spell that.

On the list of things that I am concerned about their origins raw food is pretty low on the list.

However, processed food, that I would like to know where it came from. I mean where does kraft get their noodles from? or that wierd non cheese cheesy sauce.

Where do Oreos come from?

IT seems to me that it would be a lot easier to slip mercury laced, themadeofpoisen, stuff past if it dont' know that it is made in bangladesh.

Or what about porkrines, how do I know where they come from, are they really pork? I mean it is supposed to be pig skin fried, but I've seen pigs and they're spotted at lot of the time, but I never see spotted porkrins.

Maybe I should eat more raw food, oh well.

I am off to microwave me a boston market meal for lunch. Surely they're from boston right.

dream analysis?

I have to ask my blog drive buddies, to analysis my dream for me.

Here it goes, I am driving a car down an old 2 lane highway with mountains off in the horizon. I come up over a hill and there is a really hot woman broke down next to what I swear was the mystery machine. She is flagging me down.

This is the part where the dream gets weird.

The dream cuts and i am before like a panel that looks like the supreme court. There are a bunch of guys and gals in robes like judges, sitting there and they're arguing about what to do next.

I am in the middle waiting for the decision and it goes something like this.

First guy says, this is only going to go to ways from here either nightmare or dream whose details should be get private.

The second guy says, but it could be a good dream.

First guy, a very good dream!

Some lady says, put it is more likely a nightmare, lets wake up and not risk it.

The first guy, but It could be good dream, and she could have friends in the back.

The lady, says, yea, knife wielding killer friends.

The guy says, but they could be bikini wearing friends lets vote on it.

So the panel of judges vote on whether to risk going into my nightmare to go into a naughty dream or to wake up.

The vote was like 5-4, or 4-3 or 6-5 something like that, with all the women on the panel voting to not go back to the dream and risk a nightmare, and all the guys voting to go back to the dream and see what happens.

So I go back to the dream.

This is when the alarm clock wakes me up.

I've never had, or remember a dream where i remember debating whether i should be having the dream or not. that strikes me as odd.
